i dreamed this morning
that i bumped into my very first girlfriend.
the memory was set in cubicleville,
but i seem to think that i was acting
as a substitute teacher in an elementary school.
she asked if i knew who she was,
and i did recognize her.
i tried to tell her about the girl
from her graduating class from high school
{she moved soon after we dated} whom i knew in college,
but i couldn't remember the girl's name.
my ex-girlfriend told me she was a lawyer.
so this morning, i googled the ex,
and i came up with nothing.
now she has an unusual name in its spelling.
but when i put her first name, middle initial,
and last name into google in quotes,
lo and behold i get one hit:
associate counsel for a law firm.
is that weird?

if it is her.
then again, i don't know
if she could possibly
have taken someone else's name
or even if she really went into law
{since she had never talked about that}.

one bit, from what i knew of her.
and it's not so much that
her name is unique as it is
a much rarer spelling of a first name,
combined with a last name
that doesn't stike me as super-common.
and if this is her and she did get a law degree,
then not changing her name,
even if only professionally,
could make sense.
as to e-mail,
i doubt that i will.
i see no need to go looking into her.
we dated for three months
twenty-one years ago.
wow.
that is sad.
that makes me feel old
all the sudden.

be possible,
in any configuration
of that term.
